If your old alternator was shorted, it may have blown fuse #8 in the instrument panel fuse block. It is a 10 Amp fuse and is the ignition circuit feed for the alternator.
Did you use a new or rebuilt alternator? Junk Yard ones can be cheap but a roll of the dice as well. You put a new or re-manufactured one on you say, did you replace the battery as well? Alternators that do not charge a battery properly can ware down the battery quick. Even a relatively new battery can be ruined if an alternator wears a battery down enough times. This would be my recommendation at this time. Try a new battery. Good luck to you.
Also make sure your battery cable clamps are free or corrosion or and tight. Clean and replace as necessary. Corrosion can inhibit the alternators ability to charge the battery from a poor connection. Check this first then replace if terminals and battery clamps look clean and tight. Good luck.
Also make sure your battery terminals and cable clamps are tight and free of corrosion. Clean them if not. Corrosion or a loose clamp can cause a bad connection and inhibit the alternator from properly charging the battery.

You need to take it somewhere that can do a parasitic draw test. Something in the car is drawing power from the battery with the key off. You can do this yourself if you own an ammeter. If you do, let me know and I can walk you through the test.

change your battery cables and check all wires on the alternator for loose connections, expecially the grounds.
SOURCE: why won't my new alternator charge my new battery
the power wire for that lays on top the intake probly has bad spot drawing out the current
SOURCE: alternator wont charge the battery put a new one on still wont
When replacing Alternator on This Vehicle Voltage Regulater Must Be Replaced Also.
SOURCE: battery not charging
check the fuses in the POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX under the hood, There is a 75A in-line fuse and #11 - 15A fuse see if they are good.... test your alt. loom for opens, and cables .....hope this helps...GL
