Bad wiring to alternator - T100 Toyota Cars & Trucks

The alternator went bad, you didn't check why, the new one went bad when you installed it?

Mis-wired? New one faulty?

If you can use a new wire and they charge the battery then most likely you have a broken wire in the harness that runs between the alternator and the regulator.

look at the ground and pos. line at battery, look at stater wire off alternator , it tells the alternator pos+ or Neg- ground. corrosion of wire ends can cause this.

Possibly a bad fuse which is not allowing the power from your new alternator to make it back to the battery. Do you have alternator voltage making it to the battery when running?

It could have bad wire connection to the alternator, When the car runs try disconnecting the battery if it stays running the alternator is good and the wiring is good. If it dies then the alternator or the wiring is bad.

could have wrong amp alternator or battery could have short in alternator field wires or battery feed wire or damage.bad battery cables cause high resistance in charging circuit.

The green wire should be your gen field wire not a ground wire. The alternator should be grounded through the alternator. The blue wire should be a feedback to the pcm only when the alternator is charging (engine running). Make sure your main 140amp charging fuse is good. It also has a battery temperature sensor that controls the field to the alternator. Wire 15 on ecm pnk/yellow to wire 4 blk/lt blue (c1 connector). This should be a variable resistor. If you have voltage on the Dk green wire when running but no output, suspect a bad alternator or bad connections going into the alternator. Be cure to test for alternator output on the alternator itself.

I had the same problem on my 96'. It ended up being the mega-fuse, which is located on the left side of the fuse box under a plastic cover that slides up. It has two wires running to it(one of which is the main wire from the alt to the battery), and two bolts holding it in. Hope this helps.

Most of the time this occurs due a "bad" or going bad car Alternator. I would first check the wiring at the Alternator and the battery wires. Also it could just be a lose Alternator connector.
But get you alternator tested..
If alternator comes back fine you then you have a bad ground or positive wire which would definitely drain your battery.

to drop off a battery cable is one old and reliable way to check charging system. if belts are tight and wiring is correct it is time to put a meter to alt and verify output voltage is within acceptable ranges.....
