The most common causes that hinders normal starting operation of your Lincoln Navigator are dead key fob battery, dead 12v battery, corrosion on battery terminals, bad alternator, clogged fuel filter, broken starter, blown fuse, empty gas tank, immobilizer error or any fault in the electrical system.Dec 17, 2020
Try another key, you can also jump the solenoid under the hood on the passenger side, big terminal to the little terminal. Keep your hands clear of moving parts. This test will determine if the starter is bad ( or wiring to starter ) or if your ignition switch or related components are defective.
turn on head lights have some one try and start car if the lights do not go dim then the starter is not drawing any power take starter out replace or rebuild can take starer out and hook to the battery its a 98 should have put 3 or 4 starter in by now I have
If you can jump start your Lincoln...the battery must be low...(when running have it tested for free at your local auto parts store...the alternator controls the full charging of your battery when the motor is running...If you can not successfully jump start your Lincoln it points to definitely a defective battery, and the starter could be bad also...if your battery is fully charged, and the starter will not turn the motor over the battery connections or the starter is bad...Not a big swithch out...Hope this helps.
Have you checked the polarity in the postive or negtive battrey cables. It sounds as if you are not getting a clean contact. Check them throughly it must be in that area.
