Low coolant, if there is an air pocket in the engine it will make it to the heater core. Once there , the air coming out is cold/cool. Once the coolant fills the heater core, it gets hot. If the coolant is fine hot or cold, then have the HVAC system scanned.
If the gas gauge does not work correctly and the temp gauge reads hot, you could have a problem with the instrument panel. Both gauges get power from the same circuit, but each gauge is grounded by its own sending unit. If the temp gauge is reading correctly, you could have air in the cooling system and it is not actually full of liquid coolant.
ensure the coolent water level in your car system is full. the heater radiator is set higher than the main system so when the water gets low there is none in the heater.
as the fault came suddenly it also maybe the heater control switch or the thermostat has a problem and has shut off the heat. check fuses to ensure there is not a problem there.
Check your cooling fan motor at radiator, should come on at about 220 -225 deg, while moving you have air blowing through radiator and will keep engine cool, at stops no air going through radiator and will cause over heating. Have fan check out
Try checking the cabin air filter, if equiped. It may be clogged making it draw more cold fresh air. Check your owner's manual to see if you have one or not, and it's location.
why would the heat on a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer only produce heat when the temp dail is to the right to the red indicator, but produces cold air when the temp indicator is any where else on the dial. Thank
