COOLANT-ADDING ADDITIONAL
Do not remove radiator cap to add coolant to system. When adding coolant to maintain correct level, do so at coolant reserve/overflow tank. Use a 50/50 mixture of ethylene glycol antifreeze containing Alugard 340-2 y and low mineral content water.
Remove radiator cap only for testing or when refilling system after service. Removing cap unnecessarily can cause loss of coolant and allow air to enter system, which produces corrosion.

COOLANT LEVEL CHECK
The cooling system is closed and designed to maintain coolant level to top of radiator.
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN RADIATOR DRAINCOCK WITH ENGINE RUNNING OR WHILE ENGINE IS HOT AND COOLING SYSTEM IS UNDER PRESSURE.
Remove radiator cap. The coolant level should be to top of radiator. If not, and if coolant level in coolant recovery bottle is at ADD mark, check for:

  • An air leak in coolant reserve/overflow tank or its hose
  • An air leak in radiator filler neck
  • Leak in pressure cap seal to radiator filler neck

check on the frontend, some of the chevys have an electricl controlled vaccum actuator that locks the frontend in, it will be close to the punkin. if the vaccum line is off or has a hole in it, it will not engauge in 4 wheel drive. hope this helps

Will not switch into 4 wheel drive

there is a vaccum actuator on some of the blazers it will be on the front punkin, if the vac hose is unhooked, or has a hole in it, it will not go in 4 wheel drive.

Wont go in 4x4 cant figure it out ???

is it a push button, or manual shifter to put it in 4 wheel drive?? if its push button its innitated by a little vaccum arm on the frontend. most likely close to the punkin, if that vaccum line is unhooked or got a hole in it, it can go in 4 wheel drive.

2001 dodge durango 4 wheel drive not working loud knocking

You need to check the cv joints in the front end or the u joints in the front drive shaft. If none of the above then the problem is internal in the front diff.

Hose off the front axle punkin goes where

this is a vent for the axle. It will go up to frame to keep water out. Just replace with a vaccuume line and run up to frame. Make sure to leave some slack for suspention travel and bend over at the top ove line so as to not fill with water from driving in rain or crossing creeks

Popping and grinding noise coming from the right front tire.

it depends if you have 2WD or 4WD, probably either your CV joints, or your wheel bearing, also have your upper and lower ball joints looked at, durangos are bad for those going out. 4WD could have additional problems, like transfer case, front axle bent, and other 4WD probs. i had a similar problem and it was my wheel bearing. buy it offline, not at the parts store, it saved me $140. compared to O'riely Auto Parts.

Filling gas tank

are you putting the delivery pump nozzle into tank filler far enough so it ppushes open the restrictor flap inside fill neck ? if so then check under n/s/rear wheel arch and where the filler pipe is you will see a smaller bore pipe clipped along side this is the fuel tank ventilation pipe that as you fill tank it will vent theair from tank as displacement occures ensure this pipe is clear ?
