Need to test the battery ,and the alternator for a discharge .Was a new alternator used or a reconditioned one ?? ignore the lights for the minute because they sound as though the regulator is working ,iam more concerned about the diode pack in the alternator,hence was it a new one or a recon or one from a scrappers

Check your pulleys and make sure they spin alot of times the smooth pulley the guide needs replaced they get locked up with dirt and cause belt to stretch

BMW recommends that the timing belt be changed every second Inspection ii, or every 4 years on cars that have low mileage. Most of the rest of the industry has timing belt changing intervals ranging from 40,000 miles to 60,000 miles. It is better to change the belt at a lower mileage than at a higher number.
The timing belt must be replaced every time the belt tensioner is loosened. Do not reinstall a used belt. Reusing a timing belt, even one with low mileage, is not worth the chance of having a belt break and damaging the engine.

loosen off the alternator about 1 inch, then slip off the belt, replace belt, then re-adjust alternator till its bolts are finger tight, check the movement in belt by pushing down on belt with finger till it moves only 1 inch of movement, on the longest part of the belt )......then tighten the alternator bolts

Hi can you give us more detail regarding the original clutch mark. Are you trying to replace the clutch plate?

Rear RH side of engine compartment in E-Box

Removing alternator drive belt, refer to Engine.
Release the belt pulley from the water pump.



Drain coolant.
Release water pump.



Insert two M6 screws in water-pump thread and press out water pump evenly from gear case.



Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
