Those are vapor return lines. The engine uses some of the fuel, but not all so vapor not used will be sent back the fuel tank and reused by the engine. It's all a part of the emissions operation of the vehicles. Rather than porting the excess fuel into the air like the old vehicles did they created a return line to the tank to save fuel, protect the environment and get you better MPG or Miles Per Gallon.
First have you replaced the fuel filter, air filter, tune it up, does it blow black smoke is the tail pipe black if so you might have a bad map sensor. Check for leaks, have you replaced your timing belt. Bad timing will cause a fuel consumption.
on normal that trk should be around 6-7 gallons used per one hundred miles drove. i based that at 15 mpg. now that is also based on a V8 engine. now 1 gallon of gas is 3.78541178 liters which totals 12 galons of gas to 45.42494136 liters. This would mean that it took 12 gallons of gas to travel 100 miles which totals 8.3333333333 mpg. not as good as i would have thought. 8 miles per gallon (mpg) hell that engine must be a big block 460. If it is that big cubic inch i could understand but any other motor should do better mpg than 8.3. so i agree that is not normal, tune up, or look for fuel leak in the fuel supply or( feed ) line. From the tank to the motor. This must be a canadian truck yes? well hope for the best or trade that guzzler in for a new breed. stay warm!
you are having a faulty EGR "Exhaust Gas Recirculation" problem, its a common problem on these trucks, its making your exhaust gasses enter the intake manifold again and becouse they are so hot they vaporize the fuel so your ecu adds more fuel to compensate the mixture but your Mpg miles per galon sky rocket, replace the EGR unit it consists of a solenoid and a valve most times is the valve that cloggs due to exhaust carbon deposits its in the intake manifold, check for an exhaust line going to the intake there is your egr system, good luck please rate
there is a float in your gas tank kinda like the float in your toilet. Sometimes they stick and if the bell goes off then back.. it prob. from the gas splashing in the tank. I wouldnt' be concerned too much.
wow thermostat >>>> shucks i believe its evep emissions code like faulty gas cap ....you can reset any computer the chck eng light will come on in 50 to 100 miles if not fixed....
tire psi correct .no dragging brakes, clean air filter.proper gap on spark plugs, clean oil, check engine light off should be good to save and calm driving habits should help/ oxygen sensors/ o2 .should be changed at 100,000 km regardless as they wear out, slow crosscounts to ecm via fuel management ,dont over look o2 sensors just because there is no dtc in computer history
