Car keeps running hot and fan will not turn - 1992 Lexus Es 300

Engine is still hot... you might need to check your coolant level.

Most engine fans will come on and run after the engine has been turned off. It does that to cool the engine and is run by a temperature control. This is perfectly normal.

Be sure you check engine oil level often. The low oil sensor will disable the ignition. If you turn A/C on the cooling fan should run continuous, Check the fan relays. Make sure coolant level is correct at recovery bottle, never open radiator cap. A scald hazard exist, be careful. This car is old and complicated, and is beyond your skill level to repair. Try to inquire here for advice, whenever possible. Don't throw good money at bad money

The cooling fan in front of the radiator is thermostat controlled. Apparently the engine is hot enough to warrant it's running after the engine is turned off. You might have a coolant circulation problem. Is the car running on the hot side when you drive? It could also be a bad fan thermostat.

OK, if the relay for the A/C fan is bad, then the radiator's fan will keep running after turning off the ignition. Also, if the fan for ventilation of the A/C in the cabin stays on after the ignition is turned off, the relay for that is bad.

With the car running and hot, pull the connector off the fan and use a test light to see if there is voltage at the fan connector. If there is voltage, replace fan. If there is no voltage, find the fuse and relay in the relay box there under the hood, Check the fuse and try swapping the relay with another similar relay. Also use your test light to check for voltage on the terminals in the socket. There should be 2 hot terminals when the engine is running and hot. If not (only one hot terminal), the control module is not turning the fan on. If there are 2 hot terminals to the relay but no voltage at the fan connector, replace the relay. is your car overheating???the fan isnt suppose to run when started(unless engine is hot), it may turn on then shut off. See if it runs when the vehicle gets hot and the A/C is on. Those engines with fans that move all the the time are belt driven. This is why they spin continually.

turn on ac and see if fans come on ,,see if fans or fan kicks into high after a little while ,look for reason why fans or fans do not run with ac on they have to run ,relay? or high side switch check preasures on ac ,low side and high,high side may be to high for fans or fan to cool down ,,ac problem or to much freon,,,radiator new?

the fan is electric and if the car is hot the fan will stay on to cool the engine it should shot off in less than five minutes.
