This is probably the begginning of needing new brake pads. Brake pads have wear indicators that will scratch and/or squeal when the pads are starting to run out. Have them checked soon because if they continue to scratch badly you will need to replace the rotors too and that raises the price alot.

I went to back my Infinity G37 out of the garage & I hear a metal on metal sound when I apply the brakes forward & backing up. When idling there's no sound. I'm assuming it's brake related. Any ideas?

Sounds like the front brake pads are worn out and the rivets are grinding on the brake rotor. Remove the front tires and inspect the brake system. Should be a simple fix.

Rubbing sound near front right tire espeically when turning

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome Amanda. Your tire might be hitting the front corner of the fender when you are turning. Your rim could be bent also or a bad tire. It could also be your brake shoes rubbing the rotor. They may have come loose, need adjusted, or need changed. If they need changed, you usually will hear high pitch squealing. You could also have a bad caliper.

How often should the rear brake pads and front brakes be change on a 2003 ford explorer.

Hi!!

It depends on your driving habits and how much you drive the vehicle. All brake pads, have a metal tab that let you know when the brake pads need to be replaced.. so don't worry about it for now, when you start hearing a scratching sound coming from the brake disks, is time to replace them.

Front right tire makes a grinding noise , hub assembly has been replace problem stills there, what will be the problem?

It could be a lemon replacement hub or it could actually be the tire. Check the tires tread for irregular wear patterns. If the hub was loose prior to change this could easily cause the tire to wear in a "choppy" fashion which can also cause a rough humming sound that I have often heard customers refer to as a grinding sound.

Screeching noise coming from driver side tire

The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.

Ticking noise in front end. Just like the person of the 02 issue

My first thought is a rock hung in the tire but surely you have checked for that? If you only hear it as the tire turns and it get faster as the tire tire turns faster then it has to be either the tire, brakes, or wheel bearing. Remove the wheel and throughly inspect everything. Look for a rock or some other object stuck in the tire or the brake system. You may have to remove the pads to find it. Inspect the brake slide pins and lubricate them with brake grease. Clean all rust and corrosion from the brake components with a wire brush and brake cleaner.
