You should be able to use Dexron III in a 1996 Land Rover Discovery. Check with your dealer to make sure though.

Hi there,
I think its fairly standard across all Land Rovers. First of all you need a code. This was supplied on a credit card sized piece of card with the original vehicle. I'l assume its not to hand... Typically, you can source the code (which is specific to your serial number / radio) from a supplier such as this on eBay

Code in hand, you are ready to enter it and unlock the radio.

You only actually need numbered button <1> and the two seek buttons that look like <| and >| .

When you turn the radio on, you should see it request <CODE>

Press preset button <1>. This should identify character 1 of the code.

Use one of the two tuning buttons (Seek up , or seek down - the ones with arrows going into lines) to move to the right number (0-9).

Press preset button <1> again to lock digit 1 and move onto code digit 2.

Repeat twiddling the upseek and downseek. Press button 1 etc .... until all four codes have been entered.

When you press <1> for the final time, if the code is correct, you'll get a two tone beep to confirm and the radio is unlocked.

If incorrect, you are progressively locked out (in doubling time periods).

No default code that I know of, I would call back your sales manager. If you had the car serviced at a Land Rover dealer check the service form as oftern the radio code will be listed on the top section.

Radio unlock code for 1998 land rover discovery

Give the dealership your VIN# and they will in turn provide you with an 'unlock' code. Input the code and you should have radio. If not, you will need to remove the radio and give the dealer the chassis # found on the case.

It is usually listed in the top section of repair invoices from a dealership.
If you still cannot get the code. there are many sites on the internet that can
supply the code for a fee.

Need Radio Code

Hi aawren

In the front of your owners manual you will find the company that originally sold the car.

Ring them and provide them with your V/N number and they will provide you with the code, write it down for when ever you disconect the battery to save yourself this problem again.

Failing this in the event that you cant find your owners manual, ring Land Rover Australia direct and follow the same procedure as above.

LAND ROVER DISCOVERI 1995

The radio codes are only available from the dealer, you will need to goto your nearest dealer with your registration, they will type your vin# in there system and give you the code.

You only have 3 attempts to enter it and then you are locked out from entering a code for 1 hour. After 1 hour you can enter 1 more code, if it is wrong you are locked out for another hour. When the display says CODE IN that's when you enter the code. To enter the code you use the preset buttons. if your code is 1234 then press button 1, then button 2, then button 3, then button 4, if you entered it correct the display will change to a radio frequency and it will start playing that station. If you got it wrong the code will stay on the screen, press and hold the BND button for 4 seconds and the display will change to CODE IN again.
You should only have a 4 digit code. If the code you have starts with zeros, try omitting them.
