My 2004 Saturn ion 3 has 2 codes coming up u2105 p0700 an it won't go in drive or reverse what could it be

First off you need to understand your vehicle has several control modules on board . The PCM - engine computer , TCM - transmission control module , SRS - air bag module , Anti theft , antilock brakes , An these modules all are able to talk to each other on a communication network , On your vehicle it happens to be the CAN data bus !
The transmission control module (TCM) uses the controller area network (CAN) to signal the engine control module (ECM) that the TCM is requesting malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination. This happens when the TCM has determined that a failure that affects emissions has occurred in the transmission control system. When the ECM receives the correct message from the TCM, DTC P0700 will set.
Which transmission does your vehicle have ?
Automatic Transaxle AF23-5
OR
Automatic Transmission VT25-E
DTC U2105-U2199
The controller area network (CAN) serial data line is a high speed serial data bus used to communicate information between the engine control module (ECM), body control module (BCM), and the transmission control module (TCM). Typical data-transmission speeds must be high enough to ensure the required real-time response is maintained. The CAN serial data line does not communicate with the scan tool via the data link connector (DLC). CAN serial data information is interpreted by the BCM and transmitted to the serial data line by the BCM.
I suggest you take this to GM dealer or some other ASE certified repair shop .

What is TCM and ECM

Tcm= transmission control module ecm= engine control module. Vehicles with an automatic transmission are equipped with both of these. Many vehicles now have what is called a PCM, which is a powertrain control module and is Both the TCM and ECM in one controller. Feel free to ask if you need any further assistance. Regards,-Tim

Trouble code po700 dodge 1500

Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module.

What does diagnostic code PO0706 and PO700 mean?

OBD II Fault Code
  • OBD II P0706
Fault Code Definition
  • Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
The purpose of the automatic transmission is to match the engine's optimum power and torque characteristics to the driver's desired rate of acceleration and speed by auto-selecting different gear ratios or 'speeds' to power the wheels. The Transmission Range Sensor (also referred to as the PRNDL input and/or neutral safety switch) tells the transmission control module (TCM) and the powertrain control module (PCM) that the transmission is in park, reverse, neutral, drive, low, 2nd, 3rd etc. It is attached directly to the manual valve of transmission, so when the shift lever is moved say from park to drive, the Transmission Range Sensor communicates this critical information to the above mentioned vehicle computer systems.

Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include:
  • Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination
  • The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc.
Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely).
Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission.
If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself.

Put trans in works great but has a code po 0700

P0700 is a generic fault code indicating a transmission problem. It's possible it's a left over code from the bad transmission you replaced. You may need to have the code cleared at a transmission shop that uses a different code reader to clear the code. Unfortunately, unlike the standard OBDII code reader, the transmission codes don't always reset themselves after a repair is made.
