Usually a broken cable, or the motor. To remove the trim, remove the speaker, then remove all the screws from inside the door handles. Then remove the screws around the edges of the trim panel. Prise the edge of the trim panel away from the door, and continue to pull until all the plastic clips are loose. Then just lift the panel up and off of the window ledge. Unplug electrical from the back of the switches, and the panel is then separated from the vehicle.

Replacing the window lifter is quite simple. Just unbolt the vertical chanels, and the motor, and the whole thing comes out. You can get refurbished lifters with the motor quite affordably from the dealer, or the auto parts store.

Drivers door glass DOSENT drop quick enough when opening door, making the glass spring off the seal on opening

Whenever a power window opens & closes slowly it's usually one of two things. It could be that the window is sticking in the forward vent glass trim (or whatever trim is holding your window while raised), or a sign that the tracks and slide mechanism are getting gummed up. You can lube the channels holding the raised window with silicone - I use a product called Shin-Etsu developed by Honda. It's available on Amazon and other online stores.

For the mechanism and rollers you usually need to remove the door card to get at them. If mechanics have kept adding more and more grease over the years you might need to clean it all out and apply a fresh coat of grease. You can again use Shin-Etsu or the more commonly available white lithium grease.

General instructions for door panel removal; Door panels are attached to the door frame with clips such as the one above. The ribbed, screw-like part of the clips are inserted into holes in the door frame around the perimeter of the sides and bottom of the panel
Auto Repair Mechanics How to Remove Car Door Panel

The video shows details of door panel removal. First locate all the screws on the door panel, usually at the door handle and door rest. Look for any hidden screws that may be covered with small plastic caps.

After all screws are removed, the side and bottom clips need to be popped out of the door frame. You can purchase a set of trim tools to pop the clips, or you can use flat blade screw drivers and a flat putty knife to pop the clips out. Sometimes the clips break, but they are replaceable. Once the sides and bottom are loose, the top of the panel is loosened by lifting up on the panel, disengaging the panel from the top track on the door frame. Be careful of wiring connectors, which will have to be disconnected to completely remove the panel.

2000 Saturn SL2 driver's side electric window. Motor works - but window does not go up and down, or goes part way, or goes crooked. What is the fix and steps to accomplish it "? . Also best method to...

Fore remove the door panel in a SL2, you have to take off the door handle. You have to disengage the door locking mechanism from the door handle, then unscrew the panel and take it off.

The door handle unhinges from the locks and from the window controls. If your windows are electric, just unsnap the cord attached and leave it hanging out.

You may have to work with the door handle as it won't come out of the slot very easily and you don't have a lot of room. A flat bladed screwdriver with a long metal piece should work to unsnap it.
