The transmission control module is part of the engine controller in the firewall behind left fenderwell. There is a solenoid block inside the Transmission pan that contains 5 solenoids , 2 shift,1 coast , 1 tcc and 1 pressure control.Various engine sensors also input into the transmission controller such as TPS ( throttle position sensor ) , map/mass ( engine load ) , and engine rpm. Also there is a trans temp sensor built into solenoid block and a range sensor on the side of trans that tells the computer where there gear selector is.Vehicle speed sensor also inputs into transmission controller. It takes a lot of data to decide what gear the transmission should be in.
