There is a bulb that you can replace and to get at it there are two screws if i remember right that you need to take out for the actual cluster unit and the rest you can pop off with a screw driver.

Have a good one!

How do i replace the odometer cluster on a 2001 Buick Century? Odometer only light up if i hit dashboard, Then it goes out.

You dont need to replace the cluster you just need to replace the bulbs, by hitting it the bulb filment thats bad make a connection, if you remove the cluster and look at the rear of it you will see the bulbs, there are many bulbs some for the battery light and oil light, so use a flash light and when you remove a bulb shine light through the hole and see if it the correct bulb or if its a symbol bulb, most of the time the lighting bulbs use a diffrent color socket, what you do is untwist the socket then it pulls out and the bulb is on it, you then pull bulb out of socket and install new bulb on socket and twist back in, you dont need to replace the whole cluster and the bulbs are sold at any parts place, take one out and match it up it should be part # 194 bulb.

I have a 1998 buick century and the odometer and gear

This is a very common problem. I too have this going on. I found a Edmunds Forum and a poster has a fix, at least for him. Link: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?14@@.ef22120/307#MSG307 and see if this is your problem too. I ordered a new headlight switch. Its an easy replacement too. Remove the left side dash panel, two screws and the 20 pin connector. Hope this helps.

The odometer in my 2000 Buick Century is not lighting up. What can be done? The Buick dealer says I have to have the entire cluster replaced. Only the odometer/shift cluster is not lighted. The rest of the...

Yes the dealer is right. there are several places that rebuild these for less than a new one. The dealer should be able to send it out or get a rebuilt cluster. If the dealer doenst want to help you, find a good repair shop, they usually have a place they get clusters from.

Odometer light out on buick century not working

Sadly no, there is no fuse or bulb to replace. You either have to send the instrument cluster out for repair or replace it with a new unit from the dealer. You could also obtain a serviceable one from a salvage yard. Most shops should be able to replace the instrument cluster or advise who can repair it.

Odometer light out on a 01 buick century

I had this same problem and I removed the long plastic dash piece that goes from door to door (after removing other pieces which hold that one in place) and then tilt the steering wheel to the lowest position. turn the key and put the car in gear 1 then shut the car off -this enables you to remove the instrument cluster, which is held in by 4 screws. Unclip the back of the instrument cluster and remove the circuit board. On the board to the right of the speedometer are 4 resistors which look like tiny black cylinders -these need to be replaced (if they haven't already fallen off the circuit board). I was missing two and I just touched the other two with my finger and they fell off. I soldered onto the board 150 ohm, 1/8 watt resistors ($1.99 for a packof 5 at Radio Shack). This entire process took me about 30 minutes. I put everything back together in the reverse order I took it apart and my instrument cluster, odometer and gear-shift indicator works fine.
