Is your water/antifreeze mixture correct and full? take of radiator cap when cold and start motor as i warms up the water start to circulate if not stuck thermostat or bad water pump. when the car heats full up does it blow steam and water out of the tail pipe? check the ol level does it look milky? either of the last two indicate a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head. bye from sunny austin tx

Does overheating damage the piston after having the problem fixed?

The piston can only be damaged during the overheating condition. It is possible, and makes sense, that the damage to the piston was discovered during the test drive.

Heat- Is parking a car in high sun temperatures

heat is not fun during any time, is it harmful, yes and no. it can cause your Ac to work harder to cool the vehicle down in addition to eventually fading your interior. a suggestion to the heat would be to have light or white paint for the exterior (probably to late for you on this) and some type of window tint to reduce the heat on the interior. my vehicle hits about 110-120 degrees interior temp during the summer month's. 4 hours a day is not to bad for the sun exposure. I hope this helps!

When you turn the lights on in the daytime (during rain) the console dims out. Honda accord, 2004

It's supposed to. The console is brighter during the day so that you can see it. At night, that same level of intensity is too bright. When you turn them on during the day, the car doesn't know whether it's day or night, so they get dimmer.
