It should be a plug and run solution. The new computer may take a while to relearn all the input from the various sensors but after running a while all will be well.

Try taking the wire of the temp sender unit and touching the engine and see if the gauge goes up to hot. If so then replace the temperature sender unit ( different to the sensor unit)

My 1992 GMC Sierra started flashing the Brake Light and Service Engine Light on and off while I drive. The Speedometer also jumps around the same time the lights are flashing. I suspect a bad ground...

Actually the problem is the connector on the back of the instrument cluster. Early 90's GM were prone to bad connections. You will need to remove the cluster. On the back side is a large, rectangular connector with many brass connectors. There is yoour problem. CAREFULLY examine them. If they are corroded, CAREFULLY clean them with a pencil eraser. Remove all eraser bits whne you are done. Try not to bend them (unless they are already bent) and make sure all are even. When you replace the cluster, make sure it fits tight/snaps into the dash. Good Luck.
There is also a chance that the cluster circuit board has a bad connector or bad solder points. This is very difficult to repair yourself but I see on EBAY that there are places that do this type of work for about $100... Try cleaning it first.

Replace starter on 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck

First thing unhook positive battery cable, unhook main cable on starter selanoid and small wire on selanoid (there may be 2 small wires) There may be a bracket on front of starter that has to be removed, and then the 2 main bolts that hold it to engine block and it should come out.
