My 2005 1.6 ford focus has an intermitant fault of not starting but engine is turning over. local garage said there is also a slight fault with sensor on accelarator pedal. is this linked and is this common fault with focus

Hard starting below 0C (32F) Car turns over, but will not start, If you put a car heater on floor and heat towards front for about 1/2 hour car will start. As soon as it cools off, car will not start. You would really need it to act up at the garage, then they should look for crank signal, I have seen the wires backed out of the connectors on the crank sensor.

Hello this means your engine has something malfunctioning and the light is a notice that you need to have the car scanned for the malfunction it is called a OBD2 scan this will pin point the problem and will provide you with the fault.Most garages charge $25.00 to 475.00 for this scan some garages will wave the cost if repair is completed this is my answer and solution.
I believe your oil pump is not working, Please do not start the car anymore or your engine will suffer severe engine damage, have it towed to your mechanic.
sorry but the local ford garage are right its got to do it when the mechanic has it ,i would suspect the alternator ,but who knows with these weird faults like this .Best advice i can give here is leave well alone till till it packs up completly
Are you sure that you need to replace the pump? I drive a 54 plate mk2 1.6 zetec that wouldn't always start and I was told it was the fuel pump in the tank but because the fault was intermitant I didn't have it fitted and found out that the car didn't start because the fuel lift pump wasn't priming the system before starting. I found that there was a faulty connection on the relay for the pump that is in the compartment under the glove compartment.
it depends on what oil filter you have fitted on your car if you have the screw on type it woud be at the back of the engine on the offside.and the other filter sounds like its the pollen filter. hope this helps
yes there is a know problem with the fuel system. fuel pump breaks down, empty your fuel filter into a bowl and check for metalic, if you have this in the filter your pump is F..... along with all the other common rail stuff. expensive job... error codes though, i find that hard to believe, fuel pressure faults will occur, i think you garage does not know what to do. or does not want to tell you the cost of the job and he will be in doubt himself of wether he is right..... was you engine coil light flashing at any point.!!!
