The 5.4L engine uses two timing chains. Since the replacement procedure is long, I would go to Auto Zone on-line and register (free) and once you have entered the truck information, you can navigate to the "repair info" section. from there look at the list and click on "engine mechanical". then look on the left side of the page for "timing chain cover, chains and sprockets". there will be detailed instructions with diagrams explaining the entire process.

Can I adjust timing chain on a 1999 ford f150 5.4L without removing engine?

There is no real timing chain adjustment. If the timing chain is loose, it is because it has stretched beyond the ability of the tensioner to compensate. You'll need to replace the timing chain. (Yes, it can be done without removing the engine, but it's a tight space!)

Ford sport trac, 4.0 dry start , and then continue ticking sound ,ive been told timimg chain

how many miles on the vehicle? does the noise quieten down when the engine RPMs come up? timing chain is very likely if you have over 150,000 miles. lifter noise is a more common problem. the lifters will tend to quieten down as the RPMs come up due to more oil pressure.

I need to replase my water pump on my ford f150 1994 truck.and wondering if i should replase the Dayco hose lower curved.THE HARD PLASTIC PART WITH TWO NIPPLES ON IT THAT GOS BETWEEN THE RADIARTOR HOSE AND...

If it looks brittle I would replace it, with plastic parts if in doubt replace it. if it is a cheap part you could save a lot of time and trouble by replacing it now wile it is apart.

How many km untill you change the timing belt or chain in a 2001 f150 ext. cab

Both V8's and the V6 engine offered in those trucks have a timing chain and not a belt. They do not require service for the life of the engine.

Timimg chain on 91 Ford F150

You have to remove the radiator,it's best anyway as the radiator can be easily damaged when working on the front of the motor.

1989 ford f150 w/ 5.0 liter..... engine light on

I would check the oil pressure of the engine. The reason is the timing chain tensioners are run with oil pressrue. I think your timing chain tensioners are leaking down when engine is getting to operating tempature . The oil is thinning down as warms up , as it should to lubercate . I would check compression and do a cylinder leak down test on all the cylinders. Then if the compression is good and the cylinder leak down is good. I would change all the timing components, ( chain, timing gears, timing chain tensioners )

Good Luck , I hope this helps.
