First of all, is your radio factory or aftermarket? If its factory the you probably have a bad ground or a short in the radio power to antenna. If its after market, then the remote antenna wire is hooked up wrong. Check to make sure the antenna wire is hooked up to the antenna. Good luck
The power switch is in the radio, it is a remote antenna wire from the radio. So when you turn on the radio, the antenna should go up, when its turned off, it should retract. The short is probably in the on/off switch of the radio itself. Sorry. Its funny how cars and electronics dont last forever. You just got a bad switch. Good luck. After market stereos are fancy. Actually, if you remove the radio deck itself, and use a test light to find the wire for the antenna, you could cut it, bypass that all together and install a dash switch to activate the antenna. check out the local salvage yards for a replacement.

This is a factory radio. Is there an antenna switch in the circuit that could have been affected during a repair procedure? It does not appear to be a grd short. It appears to be a reversed wire in the ignition switch or antenna switch. I have no way of telling due to lack of wiring schematic drawings for that year. The wire to the antenna itself is ok. Thanks
