How to open the hood when the hood release is not working.

Pull the release and have someone hit the hood with there hand in the middle of the hood, by the latch/front. Then adjust the latch upwards. If the cable is broke then go from the bottom and push the release left or right to release. Follow the cable.

Hood release on saturn 96 wont open

Hood releases are typically a braided steel cable that runs from the handle inside the car to the latch under the hood. A couple things could be wrong. Commonly, the cable is stretched; you feel the cable pulling when pulling the handle, but nothing happens. You can pull the handle as far as it will go, then use a pair of pliers to grab the cable and pull it even more. If the handle doesn't move, the cable housing could have been compromised or water has found its way in causing the cable to rust and seize inside the housing. Either way, an auto repair shop could help you out if you are unsure of working on it yourself.

2002 Hyundai Elantra Drivers dorr Lock Jammed not unlocking properly. Lock lever on inside and key on outside are stuck and door move bery much and will not unlock car. Originally cable in door to release...

Same thing happened with mine. It turned out that the power door lock motor went out. Since the handle or the switch can unlock the driver's door, both of these mechanisms are connected. When the door lock motor goes out it freezes in whatever position, it was last engaged.
