What EXACTLY does it do when you turn the key? This will give clues as to where the problem could be.
A slow sluggish crank suggests a low battery charge or an old weak battery. In general any battery over 5 years old is considered 'Old' especially if the vehicle is used a lot.
Just spinning could be a Spark issue and spinning, catching and immediately stalling out could be a fuel supply problem.

Most likely it's the latch is just set too tight and needs moved a touch. Loosen the attachment and set the release hook away from the catch for the boot.
remove the chrome collar on the top VERY carefully with a flat head screwdriver, then go inside the car and turn the radio on. make sure you have someone there to catch it! something else important to know is if all of the antenna doesn't come out, as in there are some broken pieces left inside, you'll have to remove the motor, disassemble it, clean it out, and reinstall it.
Is it just spinning round in the lock? if so push hard on it and keep moving the steering wheel side to side in the same direction os the wheels are faced, if turned outwards. its very common on the bmw's you will need to replace the ignition switch. keep trying though it does take a while but they do catch in the end unless its very very broke. my e36 done this for months before I had to change it.
Hi, try loosening the catch on the trunk lid but do not remove it and the lock mechanism, close the trunk lid but not fully, then pull the backseats down and climb into the trunk. Adjust the lock and latch until they meet up and lock together ( This will take some time and patience is essential). Fasten the Catch and Lock back up. Then retry opening and closing, if it still doesnt fit just do the same again, just needs a bit of adjustment.
