I have a 2004 Toyota Avalon. When I put the headlights in the "ON" position; I can barely see the dash lights! Is this a problem with a fuse, the lights behind the dash or the dimmer switch

try checking the fuse box for blown fuses, if all fuses are ok, then the lightbulbs behind the dash need to be changed

SOURCE: Installation of 2004 Toyota Avalon cabin filter

I will be happy to provide you with the instructions.

Open the glove box.

Remove all of the contents.

Observe the right side of the glove box door, you will see a black plastic thing/arm that is connected to a cylindrical device; Remove the arm from the glove box door.

After the arm is disengaged from the glove box door. squeeze the sides of the glove box towards the middle, to defeat the 2 stops that prevent the glove box from falling completely open.

Whilst squeezing the sides of the box inward, lower the glove box door down.

With a flashlight, look into the area behind the glove box. You will see a long rectangular device, this is the door/tray for the cabin air filter. Pull it out, towards you. Once it is out, you will be able to extract the dirty filter, and replace it with a new one.

This entire procedure should take you about 3 minutes. Very easy.

Thanks for choosing FIxYa for assistance. A FIxYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: How to replace light bulbs in the dash board of a

Get a Toyota shop manual before you attack the dash. There are a number of screws and clips that are not obvious, and there is a good chance you will get frustrated and break something if you just go at it.
On the Sienna, Your going to remove a good portion of the dash just to change light bulbs on the instrument cluster.

Get a shop manual, and the job will go smoothly. I would have not figured it out half the things is do without the instructions to what i am working on.

I know the dashboard HAS to come off. This may not help but I'm sure if you check the dealer they can give you an estimate of time/labor vs part cost.

Knowing the cost will make you invest in a shop manual, or you can go to Auto Zone or Parts Source for a print out, there free and you can get the parts from there too.
Good luck.

The dash lights are out in my 2001 toyota avalon. Is that just a fuse that needs to replaced?

sometimes, thats where you need to start, and then go from there.if it is a fuse and it keeps blowing the fuse you need to check everything on that circuit.

I had my 2008 Toyota Avalon in for a regular oil change . The technician forgot to clear the maintenace requied light on the dash .

Set your odometer display to Trip A. Turn the ignition off. Hold the odometer stalk in and turn the car to on.(not start). The odometer display will show -------------, keep holding the stalk in until they the all go away and you see 000000. The Maint light is now reset.
