I have a 2002 Porsche Boxter and cannot get the rear trunk open. The switch is not working. Is there a way to manually open the trunk until I can take it to the shop next week?

Hello there
To get to your trunk Porsche made an emergency operatin cable which is located in you drivers side rear wheell location.
You have to remove the plastic protection cover and towards the end there try to locate the cable.
Simple just pull and the trunk will open.

If you like send me an email and i will send you a picture so you have an idea what to look for.

2002 boxter

I've had this problem also. I followed the instructions exactly and nothing happened. I troubleshot the issue and I realized that the clamp on to the door latch was not making a ground connection. Try touching the ground clamp directly to the head of one of the bolts on the door latch. This worked for me and the hood opened instantly. The quality of the ground connection seems to be the key. By the way, if you do not want to use a donor battery, a battery charger will provide sufficient power to release the hood latch. Good luck!

My 1999 porsche boxter got wet inside. Now the lock on the driver side does not work. That means the front latch and trunk latch do not work. What can I do?

Have you tried locking/unlocking door with the key not the remote
If central locking is working ok this will release front/rear levers
You still need to get to the cause of the problem
If you have a local mechanic [dealer would cost a fortune] go to cannell.co.uk
In list click on manuals, here you can download full/part work shop manual
good luck barry

Rear trunk on boxter porche

Manual release cable located behind rear bumper / tail light. Stainless cable and very hard to see, but it is there. Just remember, it is very firm to pull, so use pliers once you find it.

2001 porsche boxter engine running hot

My 2000 Boxster developed a pin hole leak in the coolant reserve tank in the rear trunk. The trunk floor is actually raised, which allowed the coolant to go unnoticed, since the carpet never got wet. I would pull back the carpet on the side and see if there is coolant in the trunk area. If so, the plastic reserve tank will run you about $300 for the part. It is a bit of a pain to replace, but something the average home mechanic can do. Only real hassle was the hose clamps in the engine bay were installed before the engine, hence the engine was in the way of the screw head.

My Boxter battery is dead and I am not able open the trunk lid.

I have had this occur before. After I called AAA they showed me what I was doing wrong. The diagram in the book dose not show the correct place to ground the cable. It shows that you should attach to a door latch near the rear of the car. Acutally, you need to ground the cable by attaching to the door hinge. Hope that helps.

Manually openning the trunk of a 2002 porsche boxster

It can only be done using the key fob. Othersise use button inside the car. If your battery is flat you need a donor battery wiring to a connection in the fuse box (positive) anf door lock(negative) but see your hand book.

Access rear trunk release cable

This happened to me too on my Porsche Boxter S 2004 - the actuator is working, the battery is charged - but the rear trunk won't open from the key fob or the inside release.

I removed the driver's side rear tire, I removed one nut from the wheel well cover closest to the back of the car, I looked inside and saw a cable. The wheel well cover could be pulled back enough to fit my hand in, so I reached in and pulled - the tunk popped open.

The problem is that my primary rear trunk release cable is broken - still need to fix that problem - but the trunk is open.
