I have a 1991 honda accord wagon LX, the S (green light) is flashing on the dash board by speedometer and now the speedometer wont work. The check engine light is also on,Please give me some leads so that i can fix myself? Thanks.

I recommend, keep this PDF on CD or mem.stick and handy at all times, put it in the glove box, so when out of town its handy.

Scan the computer for the trouble code that the check engine light may have registered. Maybe that will point to the problem. What is the green s light for?

the S light is on more than likely because of you speedometer or your vss "vehicle speed censor" which is connected to your transmission im having the same problem on my 91 accord lx. check the codes and let me know what the codes are and i may be able help a little more if you dont know how to check the codes I can help with that as well

I have a 91 accord coupe with an automatic transmission. The letter S on the dash represents the "Sports Shift" designation for the transmission. There should be a small button on the side of your shifter that controls this feature. It sounds like your depressing the button with realizing it.

CHECK THE FUES BOX UNDER THE DASH BOARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.
THOSE LIGHTS ARE COMMONLY ON THE SAME FUSE

THE S LIGHT BLINKING ON THE DASH STANDS FOR SPORT NOT SERVICE IF YOU LOOK ON YOUR SHIFTER YOU HAVE A LITTLE BUTTON IF YOU PRESS THE BUTTON YOUR CAR WILL DRIVE ON SPORT IF YOU REASEASE THE THE BUTTON YOUR CAR SHOULD DRIVE REGULAR.

Does your speedometer work properly? if not, check your speed sensor. Many times the connection to your speed sensor may be left disconnected especially after clutch replacement.

I had the same problem on 1991 Honda Accord! It was the old AT fluid. I changed the fluid and all problems vanished! I had asked a Honda mechanic at first problem and he said make sure the AT fluid is good! Happy Honda Owner

the flashin s means in requires service asap....take to a repair shop as they will be only ones able to scan it for the code

A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
