there must have been a weak connection somewhere in the line. use a volt meter to trace from the lighter to the fuse box. I have also seen the wire connection go bad during a short in the back of the fuse box itself where the wire goes in. follow the 12 volts and you will find your problem.
it may be just a blown fuse, check the fuses in the fuse box, if the cigarette lighter does'nt get hot it could be the unit is burnt out & needs to be replaced......hope this helps......cheers.
what cooresponds with the numbers is on the back of the cover of the fuse box you removed. none of them were labeled for cigarette lighter though. i have a '99 Protege and my outlet isn't working.
it should say lighter on fuse box cover to manually find it plug something in to lighter such as radar detecter and pull fuses one by one till it goes off. If your just looking for a burnt out lighter fuse remove them one by one till you find it.
under the fuse box lid there should be a diagram but if it is gone then try auto zone or a dealership they can print you off one or there maybe a fuse in the box under the hood as well
