Try disarming the car from the trunk. Sounds like the door lock switch is not deactivating the alarm, which it should, with or without the remote.

SOURCE: how to fix remote car key

1.Insert key in ignition and pull out
2. Within 5 seconds, insert the key in the ignition and pull out again.
3. Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver's door twice, then insert and remove the key from the ignition again.
4. Within 40 more seconds, close and open the driver's door twice, then insert the key in the ignition and close the driver's door.
5. Turn ignition switch from LOCK to ON to OFF three times, leaving the key on for one second and off for one second each time.
6. Remove the key from the ignition lock.

The doors will lock and unlock themselves at about 2 second intervals. The number of times that the doors lock is the number of remotes that are programmed into the car. If the car locks/unlocks 5 times, there are no codes registered.

Hello I have a 2006 scion tc I was driving down the street and it died and now it won't start I turnd the key on all the lights come on but it won't do anything

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

Panic switch

The alarm is armed if keyfob is used. So you must use the fob to disarm alarm first. So someone can not unlock and open door without keyfob or alarm will be set off.

Scion xa driverside door switch wont unlock 2006

That's in all prob the switch itself. If you can, open the switch panel & test if you have power & ground w/ a test lt as U move the switch back & forth, if OK, U need a switch. if no power or a bad ground-electrical short. sounds like a switch or the connection. Good luck Frank M (if elec short & U cant handle it, take it in.

Won't start, could it be fob or engine?

Try not using the fob at all open the door with the key. And start the jeep if it works without issue then its the fob. If its still not working correctly remove the battery from the fob and try again(since if it was damaged could be sending the signal for the panic button) the next step is the key try your spare security key can become worn and cause issues with the antitheft system. After that it only leaves computer problems and those can get spendy

My alarm cycles on and off on when vehicle is shut off.

  • Often times when this happens this is a problem with your door switch. The doors being locked or not does not necessarily mean that the alarm is not armed. When the door switch begins to fail the alarm senses the door being opened even if it is closed because the switch is sending a signal that the door is open. You could just need to reprogram the FOB as well.

  • Unfortunately the FOB must be programmed at the dealer or a technician with a proper interface. You might be able to ask the dealer to test your FOB first.

  • The switch you will notice on the inside of the drivers door and is activated by opening and closing of the door. You can pop that switch out and look at the wiring and give it a little cleaning and see if that helps. If it does it will be temporary and the switch will need replaced.

  • Hope this helps.

When we use our key fob to lock the doors, i know we must use the key fob to unlock the doors to avoid the alarm from going off. Recently I parked in a parking garage at an airport (left key fob at home)...

You should be able to just unlock the door with the key, and even if the alarm is still going of try to start it the key should override the alarm.

2006 sebring 4 cyl - in cold weather security alarm goes off whether i have it left unlocked - use key to unlock or fob - every morning it goes off - yesterday - when i was leaving work - went to unlock...

I know a quick fix to get it started but you might think i'm crazy to do this:

My 2003 Dodge ram van 1500 does the same thing. I put a small heater on the driver's side floor blowing the hot air toward the door.
I plug in the heater when I get home from workand let it run all night.
The computer for the alarm is under a kick plate near the driver's door next to the driver's seat on the left side. Once it warms up the alarm; it will shut off the alarm and you can start the motor.
