Ford had a problem with the plastic connectors to the linkages from the motors to the lock mechanisms, you will need to pull the door panel off and see if they are broken, they are not very expensive, but are kind of hard to get at.

Central locking problem. all doors except the passenger door at rear behind driver unlock this one is permantly locked any ideas

Put your ear close to the door and activate the lock/unlock. If you hear click click there is a loose/disconected lever which is moving without activating the lock. If you hear nothing something is stuck or dead. Open door panel and clean system then check again. Might need replacing the unit in the door.

When my passenger door is opened then closed the light on the dash indicates that the passenger door is ajar, dome light is on and doors will not lock until the door is open and closed sometimes once...

There is a tiny switch inside the door called the "Door Ajar" sensor, remove the door panel and replace that switch, it is attached to the door latch, it just twists out and back in.

2002 door locks failed ford escape

Using a multimeter, check for voltage at the lock/unlock solenoid. Disconnect the connector and probe the unlock side with the other lead on a good ground. Hit the unlock twice and see if you get voltage. If yes, the solenoid may be defective or if not, you could possibly have a bad relay. Even though you can hear the relay, that doesn't necessarily mean it's completing the circuit. My car did the same thing and I ended up replacing the relay.
The lock side check would be the same.

Hope this helps!
