No problem just need advice. Have Moms 1998 toyota camry. 30,000 miles. Should I change the timing belt because of age? Same situation with Dads 2wd 1998 4runner 60,000 miles. They will now be driven more.

No way. They usually don't wear until 100,000 miles. Some last for the life of the vehicle. I would change around this time. You should be good my friend.

Age is not as important as miles with timming belt. unless there is an oil leakk around the belt or other repairs that require disturbing the belt I would let that go for now

It should be changed every 40-60 thousand miles if not 30,000. Because if it breaks while you are driving you could very well lose the motor. Much better to spend a few dollars now than a few hundred later.
You can check your maintance schedule in the owners manual. But, if you don't have one the dealer would tell you for free. Most cars and trucks with timing belts recommend replacement at 30,000 miles. You should do this to save trouble down the road.
Some repair shops will tell you its 100,000 mile oil or it never needs changing.il tell you what,i change trany oil every 30,000 miles, unless its synthetic, then every 60,000 miles,i own a toyota and work on many, i change it every 30,000 mile. what i mean is i flush it,i do a bg service flush, with a cleaner and conditioner, and the filter i change every 90,000 miles.
Yes those vehicles have timing belts instead of chains. I have yet to see a timing belt that doesnt need to be changed at some point. Maybe the tech meant you didnt need to change them now. Each manufacturer has their own mileage interval, but generally speaking, anywhere between 60,000 and 90,000 miles they are due to be replaced.
Both the 4 and 6 cyl. engines in this car have belts. The 4's don't last as long because they lack a tensioner and get noisy. Toyotas for the most part do not get hurt when the belt breaks. non interference engines...nice huh?
yes it should be replaced every 30,000 miles it is the weakest link on the engine and will destroy the engine if it breakes. However if it is chan driven then they last longer and would go 50,000 beore changing.
1993 Camrys take regular DexronATF. It should be changed every 30,000 miles. If you have never changed it, and it is over 100,000 miles, I would strongly suggest a professional "transmission-flush", with a designed specifically for flushing transmissions. To just drain the fluid at this point will leave roughly 3 quarts of dirty ATF in the system; a complete flush will eliminate ny dirty ATF traces.
If you had the 30,000 mile maintenance done, nothing of any real importance, just oil change, tire rotation, check air filter, check all fluids, tire pressures, etc. 30-60-90 K miles are important.
