The issue with starting systems is that there are many things that may be wrong with it. It certainly sounds like an electrical problem. I'm going to give you a way to check to see if it is actually the starter itself that may be bad. if you can physically reach the starter(on some you may not be able to) LIGHTLY tap on it with a hammer and then try to start it. DO NOT hit it very hard because this may cause the starter to become inoperable if it isn't already. if you turn the key and the batter just gets drained dead then I would sound to be a starter issue as well. These electrical issues are looked at by trained professionals in legal service shops.

As a licensed and certified mechanic I would highly recommend you have it tested before you start throwing parts at it because that may be VERY costly.and time consuming. when properly diagnosed you can save time, money, and a massive headache.

Hope this helps you out!

Just got saab 900s 2.0 petrol non turbo on a 98 plate ,is the old motor with dizzy cap ,fuel gauge stuck on full and no temp gauge ,whers best place to start look

The fuel gage is most likely the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank, the temp could be wiring or the temp sending unit on the engine, try that first.

Where do i puchase spark plugs for my 1992 saab 9000 non turbo in lakeland,fl

Both Auto Zone and Advance Auto carry the plugs you need for your Saab....you can check on-line for the store nearest you...if they don't have them in stock they can order them for you and you can usually get them the same day. I have never had a problem ordering plugs for my 1997 Saab 900S nor for the 1997 Saab 9000 and 1999 Saab 900SE that I work on for friends.....hope this helps.

91 900s Looses power, won't run through puddles/sudden power loss

Check all battery terminals and 12v power feed connections are clean and tight.
Check all battery chassis and ground connections are also firm and in good order.
Check any in line 'Maxi' fuse connections are firm.
Check for water ingress in any cable loom or bulkhead connector exposed to the water spray.

Rear muffler

The '96 900 S denotes the 2.3 liter non-turbo 4 cylinder engine. This car uses Saab part no. 5174990. The aftermarket version is sold for $184.00 and the OEM for $270.00 at SaabSite. The aftermarket Starla/Walker rear muffler is sold at eeuroparts for $159.90 and the OEM for $263.70. You can also find compatible rear mufflers from your local exhaust and brake shops, probably for even less.

SAAB 900 s 1997

you should check your fuel pressure and be sure it is within spec, is this a 2.0T or a 2.3 non turbo and also this is fuel injected correct? same as the U.S.A. 97 saab 900s? if it is a 2.0 with direct ignition try changing out the DI cassette with a friend or junkyard unit to see if that solves it -Jeff also please rate
