I am having a problem getting my 1993 Buick Riviera into park. Is this a problem I can fix with lubricant or linkage adjustment or do I need to take it to an auto repairman. Is their a linkage diagram available for me to view? I have just purchased the car and it only has 107K miles. Thanks, Terry

Linkage may be worn out if you can't reliably get it into park. I would take it to a certified transmission shop or tech and see what can be done about it.

We had a similar problem on a 1980 Chevrolet Suburban that had a worn out linkage inside of the transmission, and it would not go into park very reliably. It had about 100k mi. on it at the time.

My 95 Riviera rear wheels lock up when I put it in reverse, does anyone know why this could be?

Sounds like your rear brakes are applying due to hardware loose or broken. Could be the parking brake linkage.

1993 buick riviera....stated it and backed out of the garage. shut it off and went inside to get my wallet. Came back out and when I turn the ignition switch......nothing!

Do your head lights come on? If not check your battery connections. If they do then go to the starter and check all connections there. Let me know how you do with this and let me know if thia=s helped or if you need further assistance. Thanks

Parking brake is stuck

Not sure exactly about this model but... In most cars the parking brake is applied by a cable system much like brake cables on a bicycle. Over time, these cables rust. You may be able to soak it down with WD-40 or some other penetrating lubricant. If that doesnt work you need to replace it. In the mean time to get the parking brake to free you can just cut the cable close to the wheel with a heavy side cutter or bolt cutter. Doing this has no effect on your regular brakes.
