94 VW Golf horn stays on with fuse pulled, I just got this car and tried to install a new battery when I connect it the horn sounds.I checked the fuse panel and pulled # 13 that was for the horn and it still sounded.I am not even sure if the car runs the lights come on and winshield wipers work ,how can I trace the problem or disable the horn. thanks

Ok I will give that a try in the morning for the neighbors sake thanks. When you refer to a factory alarm does that mean that this will happen often ? do I need to get a remote or somthing? All I have is a key for this car thanks again.

Alright but I really did not get a chance to even get to the door and or inside the car because the horn was blasting as soon as I touched the cable to the post,I will give it try as far as locking and unlocking the doors will let you know thanks very much

What your hearing is the factory alarm not the horn. Connect the battery when the alarm sounds go to the drivers door lock with the key and lock and unlock the door until the alarm goes off . Then reinstall the fuse for the horn.,

There are no remotes for you to buy . The alarm is activated from the door locks. When you lock the car the it should make a beep sound and a little red light should flash on the drivers door sile and when you unlock the light should go off.

VW golf battery replacement - horn/alarm going off when reconnecting.

I suggest you try inserting the ignition key and turning the key to the fully on position before connecting the new battery. Ensure the door is left open.

If the alarm still sounds then starting the engine or attempting to start it might cancel the alarm.
Reading the vehicle handbook could provide more information.

2000 VW golf horn won't work, fuse is good , relay 53 is good but changed it anyway. No voltage reading at horns. Tested horn off car and it is fine

Did you check the power to the relay? and then the signal wire (ground) at the relay to see if it's being signaled? Otherwise you may have a clockspring or module problem not allowing the signal to pass through to the relay.

just connect the terminals, and wait till the alarm stops(30secs)then UNLOCK/HOLD KEY OVER 30 secs, windows go down.then lock/hold key over, windows go up.then press remote unlock button for 30 secs, you have just reset the alarm system/central locking/window comfort facility.....has to be done EVERY time you disconnect battery........

Horn not working from steering wheel on c reg vw golf

I would check to see if you are getting power to the horns, one behind the grill, the other up under the front part of the driver side fender. If so the horns are probably bad, if not you could have a bad fuse or bad horn relay.
