Have 2001 Lincoln LS. The check engine light is on. The engine sputters when accelerating or under power like going uphill. The service troubleshooting code is P0303 which I am told is a misfire in cylinder 3. What is the most likely problem? Sparkplug, coil? or something else?

Car won't start. Sounds like the engine flooded. Not the starter. Also loses power going uphill and when accelerating.

Check Engine Light flashing when accelerating ,severe engine misfire . Something in the ignition system is breaking down under a load . If the starter engages an spins the engine when you turn the key to start an it doesn't start an run , it has no spark or fuel pressure . If you don't know this or how to diagnose .suggest you take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . Pull two plug wires off the top of the same coil an crank the engine , if you do not see a spark jump from one coil tower to the other you have an ignition system problem . ignition module or crankshaft position sensor

2001 lincoln ls sputters when i punch the pedal

sputting when taking off could be lean fuel problem caused by clogged fuel filter or clogged fuel injectors.weak spark ignition caused by faulty alternator will set off check engine light, and a faulty tps sensor will cause problems on take off it will set off check engine light if faulty.if all is good low cylinder compression will cause sputting noise due to worn leaking engine valves.

Transmission "slips" when downshifting, especially going up slight incline and accelerating. Also, engine "misfire" idiot light came on once. Turned off engine, restarted, problem gone. What should I...

Lincoln LS's are good for the ignition coils going bad. This mimics a transmission issue trying to accelerate going uphill. Take your car to a LINCOLN dealer and have them do a stress test on the coil pack. It will tell them which one is bad. Also if your car is a 3.9 V8 and was built in the Wixom plant (you can tell by the VIN) google it. All of your coil packs and gaskets are covered for 10 yrs or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. It is listed in the TSB's

My 2001 lincoln ls is sputtering at 40-50 mph, engine light comes on for couple hours

this sounds like an engine misfire, the check engine light is telling you it is misfiring. next time the light is on you should go to an auto parts store as most of them will pull the code for you at no charge. I own a 2002 LS and I have replaced 4 coils in less than one year to correct this same problem.

I HAVE A EMISSION LIGHT THAT COME ON AND THE ENGINE SPUTTERS. I HAVE HAD A TUNE UP AND CHANGE WHAT TYPE OF GASS I USE ITS A 2001 LINCOLN LS

The dealership recommended fuel on most vehicles is 89-91 octane but I don't believe that is your issue. I would first check your heated o2 sensor and your MAF.
