MY '87 Buick Century stalls sometimes while driving especially when I hit the throttle. Also sometimes it won't start at all, other times if I let it set a few minutes it will start in neutral but when I put it in gear it will stall out. Thank you for any ideas. Perry. email to: [email protected]

I have a 1996 Lesabre. I had a similar problem that slowly got worse. I brought it to two different mechanics that did diagnostic checks and could only "suggest" what to replace to fix the problem. Their problem was that it wouldnt stall out while they had the mv. After replacing a bunch of sensors and the fuel pump/ filter, I solved the problem by replacing the Crank Sensor. Its located behind the lower crank pulley on the 3.8 lt motor. Hope this helps!

you might want to chk. the crank sensor and or cam sensor. sounds more to me that it could be fuel problem. chk. fuel pressure. pump could be on its way out. don't be fooled by hearing the pump running as they sound like they are pumping but there not, at least not enought pressure to keep it running. pressure should be around 50 p.s.i.

i had the same problem with my 92 exept after mine stalled it wouldnt start for 20 - 30 mins... mine ended up needing a transmission flush for the stalling problem and i tried to drive everyday that helped
