SOURCE: need to put freeon in a 2002 jaguar s-type. where

The lower port is located on the larger of the two lines going in/out of your A/C compressor (the lines are silver tubes and your compressor will have a belt of some sort attached to it).  You can also tell which is the lower port because that line will be cool/cold while the high side port line is smaller and will be warm/hot while the A/C is running on max.

SOURCE: remove rear door panel on x type jaguar

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

2002 x type .. is it possible to OVER fill the transmission fluid..if so will it cause the transmission to not move in reverse?

02-06 Jaguar X-types should all have a sealed transmission which cannot have fluid added to them but by the transmission shop. My wife's 02 x-type had the tranny go out completely at about 80K. Cost us $3500 and our transmission guy said it was a very common problem/manufacturing defect.
If it doesn't go into reverse odds are the transmission is on its way out. Good luck!

My 2002 x-type jaguar is pausing for a long time before engaging to go forward. Reverse works fine

Check you fluid level in the Transmission.
I have had some luck using the Lucas brand of transmission fix it lube on some Ford transmissions. It helped squeeze another couple of years use out of the car.

Good luck

Where is the transmission fluid check ? my 2002 jaguar xtype is hesitating when I begin to go speed up, ie from a stop light. Im trying to check the transmission fluid but cant find the dip stick for it.

VERIFY PROPER PLUG IS REMOVED FOR LEVEL CHECK.

Because of the similarity to other plugs and fasteners on the transmission, the potential for loosening an incorrect fastener, instead of the level plug, exists. There is a risk for internal transmission damage if the improper fastener is removed.

  • Removal of the reduction gear brake band bolt can cause total loss of drive or a substantial reduction in the performance of the transmission.
  • Removal of the parking pawl rod plate retaining bolt (located next to the XYZ switch) will result in problems/gear lever movement restrictions.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Connect the approved Jaguar diagnostic system.
  3. Make sure J-Gate shift selector is in the Park position (P).
  4. With the engine running and the foot brake applied, move the J-Gate shift selector through "P-R-N-D-4-3-2" and back to the "P" position to circulate the automatic transmission fluid until the temperature reaches 30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F) on the approved Jaguar diagnostic system.
  5. When the automatic transmission fluid temperature reaches 35°C (95°F) check that the selector lever is in the "P. position raise the vehicle.
