My 1999 Dodge Intrepid just died out while driving. Waited a few minutes then it started up. Also, my RPM's recently have been shooting up and down violently while driving. Had valve/hose/plugs change to fix the RPM problem.

I have the same car is the check engine light on if so have code pulled at auto parts store theres alot of sensors on the car theres a throttle postion sensor the car controls the rpm the computer sends signal to sensors if sensors are starting to go bad rpm will go up and down if the car finds a error in itself it will send a code to the computer of car causeing the check engine light to come on the car stores a error code until problem is fixed if light isnt on then the fuel injectors may need cleaning if its just a random thing its gonna be hard to detect until car stores code good luck

you might need to check the fuel pressure while the car is going through its paces.

You can check to see if the fuel pressure regulator is failing at speed.

Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.

check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

Honda is notorius for bad MAIN RELAYS the solder in them crack and can not be seen with the nacked eye. This is due to simple expansion & contraction the solder heats up & cools down. Try that.
