P1135 is the A/F sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1. Unfortunately, it is the sensor on the back side of the motor, in the manifold against the firewall. Its extremely common, and its not very difficult to replace, just dont try doing it with the motor hot. If you installed an aftermarket sensor, or an Oxygen sensor instead of A/F, you will still have problems. old exhaust gaskets tend to crumble, dont worry, your air mix didnt cause that. Which sensor was replaced?
DTC P-1135 indicates that the heater portion of the Air-Fuel sensor either has an open or a short. This unit is not repairable; so you will need to replace it. The vehicle IS drivable with this code stored, as the heater simply "heats" the sensor, bringing it up to its operating temperature (640 degrees F.) Replace it with a Toyota part, "aftermarket sensors do not work well. Quite a common problem.

I usually use Bosch, they are usually a good sensor. The code is for the front/before catalyst A/F ratio.

That code is specific to the Air-Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

I have the same code in a 2002 Highlander. P1135. I went to a friends garage and we replaced the fron sensor and attempted to clear the code. No luck. the code came back immediately. So we did some trouble shooting and found a significant exhaust leak before the last CAT. I got the gasket replaced and the code is still their. The exhaust shop did say something that has me worried. The gasket that they took out crumbled apart. The CEL has been on for awhile now and I dont know if it has changed the feul mix to run to lean/rich. Would the feul mix destroy an exhaust gasket like that? Where do I go from here, change the sensor and see what happens?
where is the air fuel sensor? is it the air flow meter or one of the o2 sensors?
I replace the sensor and the code still their
