Hit the the bottom of the starter motor with a hammer while someone is holding the switch in the crank psition. If it cranks then you need a starter. Also you can check with a test light or meter and see if thereis voltage at the starter solenoid. The big wire shold always have voltage and the small wire should only have voltage when the switch is in the crank position.Good luck.

1997 buick park ave.wont turn over. battery ran down, tried to jump start it,Got the same results, key turns, everything lites up,the panel info reading 12.9 volts,It doesnt even click.

Try an put the gear selector in neutral , could be a park neutral safety switch problem . If that doesn't do it ,maybe the starter relay .Do you know how to test electrical circuits with a voltmeter ? Voltage drop test the starter main battery cable .

Van was running fine, went into store, and when I came back out, heard clicking sound when I opened door, van would not start

only thing i can think of trying is to use the key to lock and then unlock the drivers door, this will disarm the security system/engine immobilizer

I have a 2000 ford focus with a manual transmition and zetec motor I turn the key and everything lights up but the engine doesnt turn I had it push started and it ran fine I changed the starter and it...

Check for bad grounds, start with the starter ground. Do you even get a click when trying to start? If not then the starter is getting no power and check your hot lead to the starter also. Make sure the battery terminals are cleaned well.

1995 nissan pu wont start... everything turns on

check for power to the starter at the starter's connectors while you have someone turn the key. If there is power, change the starter. If not check your ignition switch, (manual trans)clutch pedal switch, and starter fuses/relays. Hopefully this helps

Jack up car you will locate the starter, but first tak battery to shop and have it tested, could be a dead cell in battery. Remove starter take it to shop and have it tested.
