When I start the Jeep up and turn on the lights the running light work. THe brake lights work as well. I checked the bulbs and even bought new bulbs but the turn signals still fail to work.
I have a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, the turn signals stopped working, they will work sometimes but not for very long. I wiggle the fuse that is in the glove box and it will work again for a min. then stop. You need a new Multifunction switch...Its very common. The switch controls those functions and more. Its hard to explain how it works but I am pretty sure thats what it is.....

you need a ground wire also..add a ground and it should work.. trailer wiring is like this..white/ground..brown/tail..yellow/brake..and two greens a lighter one for left signal and a darker one for right.. find each one seperately on the jeep because these colors wont match it..and hook them up independently before taping the whole thing up..be checking and adding heavier fuses like 25 or 30 amp due to the extra wire load..
Check the brake light switch, it is down on the brake pedal lever, you can dis-connect the wire connector at the brake light switch and check for broken wires at the connector, and then jumper the connector with a paper clip, if the brake lights come on then replace your brake light switch.
There might be more than one switch attached to the brake light pedal lever, the brake light switch usually only has two wires going to it when there are two switches.
If there is no problem with the brake light switch then you can suspect the turn-signal switch to be at fault, as all of the running lights, turn-signals, brake lights, and hazard lights are all ran through the turn-signal switch. You can also try stepping on the brake pedal and wiggle around the turn-signal switch and see if the brake lights flicker or come on.
you have a bad ground the brake light are independent of the rest of the lights if the turn signals work and the brake lights don't you have a bad ground blowen fuse or your turn signals are not grounded properly so the turn signal lights may be dim or erritic in nature you can also check the blinker switch for it can be shorted (remember that there are two 1 for the turnsignals & 1 for the fourway flashers
First thing i would do is chg. the break light switch, and make sure to chk. all grounds around tailights, sometimes if there is a ground problem it will travel back thru the hot wire to get a ground, witch in turn makes everything go wackey.
try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have very good concise information that might help. It sounds like the converter is getting hot and losing connection. Check all grounds.
You have a broken wire to the turn/brake light portion of the light as they use the same wire. Or where the plug goes into the light assy could be bad. Torsion mount lights are horrible and you should think about replacing with a universal light that you can wire direct.
