You need to change the heater core nothing else will help. You could try charging the heater core with water from a garden hose> Shoot water to the heater in to the 2 hoses next to ur car battery. Make sure u dont shoot water in to ur engine the heater core is inside ur car not under the hood, u just have 2 hoses going under the hood. after u see clean water coming from the heater should start working better.

Not sure how much time you are talking about. The heat you get is from the water in the engine. The heater will not blow hot air till the engine coolant water heats up. The engine water flows through the heater coil under the dash air will blow across the heater coil and give you hot air coming out the vents. Engine has to heat up before you get hot air from you heater.

When troubleshooting to try and repair the car heater, check the coolant ... If a cooling system is full and there's still no hot air coming from the vents, .... Hi I have 2001 ford expedition and theheater just blows out cold air and ...
Your thermostat may be stuck open and your coolant isn't getting hot to warm the cab. Here's a link on how to replace, very easy to do.Don't let your pets near spilt coolant, will kill them.
If no air comes out, the blower may be faulty, or the cabin air filter if equipped. If the air comes out but is not hot, check the radiator to make sure it is full and the heater hoses are hot. If yes, you may have a problem with a blend door under the dash.
Could be several things. First, when car is fully warmed up, open hood and feel your two heater hoses coming out of firewall. Make sure your heater control is on hot, both hoses should feel hot. If only one is hot, your heater core inside heater case is either restricting flow (clogged) or an air pocket is restricting flow in your coolant(need to "burp" system-get all the air out of your cooling system) . If heater core is good, and circulating good, then you may have a temp. control door that is inoperative under dash, and not allowing air to move over your heater core. Good luck.
Possibly the heater core is 90% blocked. open enough to draw hot water in, (hose feels hot) but not enough volume to provide heat from very cold air, 10% hot water gets cold quick, coming from core..
Flush heater core in reverse direction - cold side in hot side out..
First check the coolant level in the radiator. Check your heater core hoses on the firewall underneath the hood. Let the car come up to temp. and feel the two hoses. If only one of them is getting hot you may have bad heater core or a bad heater control valve.
Check the water contol valve operation ( under hood connected to heater hoses), do you have a full load of coolant?, also air mix door under dash, is the temp of the coolant hot?.Check them all out, you'll find it
