I have a 1987 Nissan pickup, Z24 engine, 5 speed manual trans.Clutch replaced about 25,000 miles ago. works well when I get it in gear. Clutch system has been difficult to operate. I changed the cl master cyl and slave actuator and bleed the system. It now takes full pedal throw and operates worse. I adjusted rod length per manual ( dealer manual ) no help. The manual shows a valve in between the master cyl and slave actuator and recomends to clean to it. I don't know if I can get seals if I open it. Is this worth checking?

There is no bleed provision for the master on this truck, it is a sealed unit that ships with fluid and pre bled.

your throwout bearing is probably bad (most likely)

Testimonial: "Thank you for your response. I will look into that possiblity as well but it was replaced along with the slave cylinder."

SOURCE: 1987 Nissan PU, I replaced the master and slave

The shaft should come all the way back, when the pedal is back, the master shaft should be adjusted so there is very little play in the pedal. But it needs some play. Make sure you can see the slave cylinder move when you depress the clutch pedal, you will need help to operate the pedal, while you look.

2nd gear will not enter whether from 1st to 2nd or 3rd to 2nd and truck will vibrate (when trying to shift from 1st to 2nd) on my 1987 Nissan pickup d21 Z24 manual transmission.

I suspect a failed bearing or synchro assembly in the transmission
check that by removing the drain plug and checking the magnet for metal bits
if there are particles then it is a box out for rebuild

Clutch go's all the way to floor with no resistents can not shift gears engine won't stay on. 1987 5 speed pickup truck

Sounds like the hydraulic fluid may have leaked out of a line or the slave cylinder is leaking, or the master clutch cylinder has an internal leak that doesn't actuate the clutch effectively when the pedal is pushed to the floor.

The clutch disk has broker, a piece of the friction disk material has boken loose and is wedged between the friction disk and the preasur plate. I had this happen to my '77 280Z. You will need to replace the friction disk.
