Possible that the system was not bled properly, Once the brakes are serviced specially the hydraulics system, then it is important to see if there any AIR lock within the fluid system . The air has to be bled off till the pedal locks firmly. Also the brake pads must be set to close in with the same gap in all the four wheels.
This will give the best performance on your brakes.

Braking characteristics have changed

Without more information, or even a year make or model, this is a very hard question to answer.
With that being said, your braking system is nothing to guess about, its one of the most critical components in your vehicle. If you are experiencing a problem with your brakes and are unsure of the cause and effect, and are unable to diagnose or resolve yourself, take it to someone who can. Nothing worse than being in a car that cant stop.

Brake light dont work. 2006 chevy truck, 4.8L 2wd

Some of these had two fuses for brake lights. One for the top/center stop lamp and another for the rear left and right brake lights. Usually one said "stop" and the other said "brake" and one was in the underhood panel while the other was in the dash fuse panel. It's not uncommon to blow a brake light fuse [LR and RR] if you tow a trailer but some of these had seperate fuses for the trailer lights also. If you have a test light check both sides of the two fuses for power [ignition key on] while stepping on the brakes. It should at lest narrow your search a bit.

1988 cherokee 2wd brakes

Your brakes are not the problem here. You need to have your master cylinder checked. The fluid level in the master cylinder may appear fine, but the valve inside may be failing, causing the pedal to go to the floor. This is not a hard, nor pricey repair, but if you have never delt with it before you might want a qualified technican do the repairs for you.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

Its not an electrical problem . . .. . When you change brakes you have to change the brake sensor as well. . . . . It just looks like a piece of wire with a sensor that clips onto the pad . . . . .Normally it is the outerpad. . . I cant tell you on witch sides its on cause it may differ from model to model.

Its not going to be a hazardous to the car the brake light will just keep burning.

If you replace the sensor and t he light does not stop burning it may be that your front brakes are also worn but remember just as at the back there is a sensor at the front.
