Question about 1998 Toyota Camry

When I come up to a light sometimes my 98 camry revs up to about 2000 rpms and when I step on the gas to go the car stalls. Any ideas?

It might be an idle control sensor.

If it's fuel-injected, you may need to have the injectors cleaned, and also, any air filters should be changed at the same time along with gas filter/s. If it's carbureted, the same as above, but have someone clean the carburetor completely. Make sure all air hoses are attached correctly, securely and NOT broken. If broken, replace them.

98 taurus trouble idling

I would replace the maf sensor first.It is cheaper.It controls the air fuel mixture for your car and sends this signal to your pcm.It is probably not getting enough gas to idol your car.

My 1999 Camry CE sometimes stalls at starting

it sounds like a common toyota problem........."idle air control motor", the part is very easy too change, and if your looking to save money.try a junk yard , it is a commonly used part and theyll have it much cheaper than parts can try to unplug the idle motor and see if the car runs (not better, but more even RPMS) the idle is even and not up and down,,,, it is for sure a bad idle motor,,, let me know, ill guide ya through the testing if needed..........marty
