2007 Acura TL Sedan New Cars Logo
Anonymous Posted on Feb 05, 2011

I have a 2007 Acura TL that is having electical problems. Sometimes it does not start and sometimes all lights and electrical functions are dead (even the remote locks don't work). If if I keep trying it and open the door it eventually starts fine. Often I then have to enter the navi and/or radio codes. It seems like something is turning off the electrical system. Battery is fine and it starts great when it finally does. Any ideas?

I think I would be taking a hard look at the battery cables. They need to be clean and tight. If you can move them with your hand, this is the problem. If they are corroded - replace them...

Testimonial: "I checked this and the ground cable was loose. I tightened it and things have been great for the past 5 days. THANKS."

I had checked this initially and thought the battery cables were fine, but following ddtech's advice I looked again and the ground cable was loose. I tightened it and things have been great for the past 5 days. THANKS..

I'm glad I could help. A lot of people forget that NOTHING works correctly on a vehicle if the battery and battery connections are not healthy...It's almost like asking a human to function properly while not breathing any air!

How do i take the idler pulley off of a 07 acura tl 3.2? the bolt is to long and hits the side of the car

Not an unusual problem but usually overlooked in repair manuals. Sometimes removing one or two engine mountings and raising or lowering the engine will allow long bolts to pass above or below the chassis. Sometimes I have needed to remove all the mounts and move the power unit across the engine compartment to provide extra clearance.

A few manufacturers provide a useful hole in the chassis for such access. There is sometimes a case for an owner or repairer to make such modifications.

2005 Acura TL. Battery & starter replaced. This morning it would not start, key fob not work. when key turned in ignition, nothing. No lights, radio, click. completely dead. What could the problem be?

Battery cables ? Hard to say for sure Cassandra ,Would need to do so electrical testing ! Do you own a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? There are videos on youtube showing how to do basic automotive electrical testing ! First one I would do is voltage drop testing the starting circuit , charging system ! Voltage Drop Test

My Acura 3.2 TL year 1999 has recently just started cutting off while driving on the road it goes totally dead and wont start for about 3 minutes or so then will start again . Usually it happens again 2...

Good guess. It's not hard to access the switch on your car. Follow the steps at the link below. Remove the switch and inspect for heat damage. If there is no obvious damage, test the switch with an ohmmeter. Jiggle the switch while testing.

All the electic on dashboard goes off for a split second and then returns while i am driving the car. the guages needles go down and then return to full function in a second. this keeps happening.

These cars are based off the Accords, and the Accords are NOTORIOUS for the ignition switch wearing out (I've been through three OEM switches, not the cheap generic parts store switches, in less than 200,000 miles). If this is the problem, you can also look forward to your car beginning to stall at random times, sometimes dangerously, while going down the road.

Side marker lights keep flashing/car seems to need batt charge

You either have bad terminal connections on your battery or the anti-theft system has a system or sencor problem . I would really recomend that honda/acura check your electrical system and anti-theft system

99 Acura TL dies when I try to start

I have helped many Honda/Acura owners on this issue. Many mechanics will replace many parts prior to solving this problem, which then creates unnecessary repairs and spending. So here is my diagnosis: Notice if your speedometer drops to zero when your engine dies while driving. If this happens its your ignition switch failing. Ignition switches in Honda/Acura vehicles years 97-02 encounter faulty or shorted internal contacts. This causes premateur electrical failure to vital engine electrical parts, causing vehicle to stall intermittedly. A recall has been in place since 2002, approximately 1.3mil vehicles are affected, call your local honda/acura dealer for info and possible free repair or replace the ignition switch yourself. Hopefully my info helps you!!
