In any Jetta you are not able to ckeck transmission fluid when the manufacture builds them the fluid is garanteed for the life of the car. However you can change the fluid but it is very expensive about 40.00 per quart of reccomended fluid and if you do change the fluid the transmission filter is inside the transmission but it is not very hard to get to. If you have any more questions let us know.

2001 frontier only shifts from first to second and wont shift any further. no noise or other problems. any ideas ? jessy from ellijay

a) Check for the over-ride button to be not in, or
b) Find a trustable mechanic, ask him to open the transmission and check for if the transm-oil filter is clogged, change it. (Well this happened to me way back in the 70's). If the mechanic says you need to replace the whole transm., change mechanic. Or you can do it yourself.

Rear oil leak that's getting on the catalytic converter it cause's a little flam and lots off smoke. don't know where it's coming from but need it to stop flaming up and smoke bad.

check if oil leak comes from engine or transm. , generally if oil drops on catalyc , is the rear cranck engine seal, between engine-transm.
