I have a 2004 350z with the bose system. i got a after market headunit screen for it and had it wired up using the correct harneses, but the volume is realy quite even on the max setting. ihave checked everything including the amp, is there anyway that the old steering control volume would be affecting it.

It sounds like an low charging system voltage issue, the Bose draws allot of juice, have the charging system tested and the battery, Kragen and many other chain parts stores do this for nothing.

The current draw is going to almost double, from 4.5 amps to 8.3,I wouldn't be so worried of the wiring ,it will handle the increase as I would of the your relays as this is where the increased draw is going to have the most affect.Generally all electrical componenets are designed to handle 33% over what they are rated at,they will work but this will shorten the lifespan of your relays by as much as 50%.

To isolate what speaker is what set of wires, I always use a AA 1.5V battery and touch one end of each set of wires on each end of the battery, and you'll hear a crackle from the speaker they belong to, then I label it. Can use AA,AAA,A,C,D battery doesn't matter as long as 1.5v. Don't know if that's what you were looking for or not. Old trick from years ago.

Is it a 2004? Steering wheel volume controls didn't come until 2006 is why I ask.
