1. This timing is not right get the timing adjusted with a timing gun
2. see the radiator fan does it work when the engine is hot
3. see the fan if its throughing the air from outside towards the engine by putting a piece of cloth infront of the radiator if the radiator pulls the cloth the fan is in right direction if not ask the garage to fix it

Hi.

First thing to check is the cooling system itself. Check if fans are coming on. If there is no fan coming on, then there may be a defective thermostat.
Check the water pressure. The water pump may also be responsible for the problem.
This is the most obvious stuff, I guess the mechanic has already checked all this.

Bleed coolant liquid. Air pockets in the lines can commonly cause overheating.

After the fan and cooling system, first ting to check is compression. There may be a problem with the head gasket, and this will result in engine overheating. A compression test done on all cylinder will reveal if there is such problem.

You may have an air pocket in the cooling system. Im not trying to bad mouth your garage but did they put all the hoses in the proper location? Did the change the wtr pump and thermostat when they did the timing belt?

Changed timing belt on my 2001 ford focus 2.0 dohc and now it is idyling high. I read somewhere that I have to drive around for 20-30 miles for the car to relearn the idle. They said after driving around...

That's rubbish, when the fan belt is changed as long as it's not to tight or to loose everything will be fine, the fan belt operates the power steering, air conditioning etc, if that's all working when fitted an easy way to find out another problem your not sure of is to pop into a garage and have a didiagnostic test.

Ford Focus just had timing belt replaced now overheats when going over 20 miles per hour garage at wits end can't find solution

Hello! I'll need a little clarification...What is the sub-model code?...LX, SE...etc...Have any after market performance products been installed?...Was there an over heating problem before the timing belt was changed?...Lastly, does the engine idle and accelerate properly?...

When should the timing belt be replaced on a 2004 Accent and how much should it cost

Suggested replacement is 60,000 miles....

Cost of belt--start at $50.00

Labor---average is $89.00 an hour....

Figure at least 3 hours and the garage bumping the cost of the belt by $20-30 also.
