Hello! Most likely cause is a defective Brake Fluid Level Switch...Wire colors on two pin connector are ...Blue/Brown and Brown...I suggest replacing the switch...Guru...saailer
If this is on the same side it can be due to wire break of the unit., or failure of power intot he unit.
it wil be ggood to take a test after removing the unit and check for power, if power is present , check the ground , then for drive of motor and motor.
Make sure the mechanism is not jammed and is free and the motor works with an external supply.
I'm not sure if you have an aftermarket or factory alarm, but try this: hook up the battery and try unlocking/locking the door with the key. If you have a remote door lock, hit unlock/lock on that. I have come across a couple of cars this was all it took to stop the alarm, never tried with a VW though. Hope it works, good luck!
You do not state year of car. This is for most golfs 98-06.
switch ignition on
insert key to be programmed into drivers door lock
lock vehicle manually
press lock or unlock button
wait at least 1second
press lock or unlock button again
vehicle horn sounds to indicate correct programming.
good luck,barry
Can you operate the central locking once inside the car? Does your interior light come on when you open the drivers side door? If those are both the case, then you may have a bad door microswitch. If your car can't detect your drivers side door being closed, the central locking will not operate from the keyfob. If the microswitch is bad, you may need to take it to a garage to have it serviced as the procedure is complicated. See this website for details: http://dubdiy.net/interior/mm.html
