Might be. Next time it comes on do a scan for codes.

Check Engine Light On

As long as you do not run at freeway speeds you're ok. for a short time. Expensive engine damage will occur if you ignore this. You don't say what kind of car you have so it's hard to tell if you even have adjustable lifters. Not all engines do.

Sounds like the engine breather valve on the side of the engine at the back ,common fault i find on the car rental cars

Did you change the fuel filter? Are you able to find out what the check engine code is?

It needs transmission work. Just because you cant feel it, doesnt mean its not there, the trans computer compares shaft speeds and knows theres a problem. If you keep driving it, it will get worse and leave you waliking.

If the check engine light is on something is wrong, if the problem was fixed then driving will clear the light, when the codes where checked they should of cleared the light,have the light turned off then drive for a few days then if the light doesnt return then take the test, if the light is off then drive for a few days and retest, this is correct if the light was turned off it takes a few days of driving so that the computer can retest the sysem and make sure eveything is working . hope this helps.

Drive it into a dark place, or wait till dark. When it's running poorly, see if you can see any spark flying around. It sounds like plug wires.
