Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you bring the old cv joint for comparison. If it's too big this won't fit in the axle.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I just put new axles in and it looks like me inner boot is squished is this a big deal

Yes it's best to fi a new one other wise the grease that the joint is packed in is thrown out and it stuffs the joint remove the inner clip under boot slide CV joint out remove clip on the end of axle and remove the joint slide off the old boot and fit new one, assembly is the reverse of dimantleing, repack joint with grease, moly graphite. Check if the joint is noisey before you pull it out if it is fit new one.

How to replace a cv joint

I can tell you how to replace the CV joint but it is by far better to just buy a re-manufactured axle. The price of the CV joint itself then the labor to remove the axle, change the joint and install it is a big pain. Changing just the CV joint is labor intensive and you could run in to problems. Don't risk it, but a rebuilt.

How to remove the left cv axel from the the housing case of a 2005 ford escape split ring is keeping it from being removed

Enough force applied will pop it out. But you can't grab hold and yank-you might pull apart the cv joint. Shops can use a slide hammer with an attached fork that slips around the cv joint housing. Another method is using a large screwdriver or pry bar between the axle housing and the cv joint housing. Slip it between them and place tip of bar against the cv housing. Now give it a good stiff push with your hand to pop out the joint and axle. Be careful of the aluminum axle case and the axle seal-don't break or damage anything. Just remember: enough force applied will pop out the circlip from its groove inside the axle case.

Replace bent cv shaft

most shops charge 149.95 including the part but if you want to do this yourself here goes. remove the wheel on the side your replacing. remove the center big nut. (need impact or reall big breaker bar) unbolt the lower ball joint get a big prybar and insert it to where you can push down on the lower control arm. unbolt the tie rod end and smack it a few times to make it dislodge. smack the side of the ball joint with your big hammer a couple times then push down on the lower control arm till the ball joint separates from its stud. then tap on the end of the cv axle and pull out on the wheel assembly till the axle releases from the wheel assembly. using a smaller prybar get on the ground and get behind the big part of the axle near the transmission as you pull you need to pry between the transmission and the axle to get it to pop loose. put a drain pan under the transmission to catch the little bit of fluid that will come out. reinstall in reverse order. good luck
