Here is the trouble tree for that code it is most likely a bad cat but follow the trouble tree to see where it lead's you.
DTC P0420 or P0430

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. See: Testing and Inspection\Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview\Diagnostic Starting Point - Vehicle
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptors

DTC P0420

* Catalyst System Low Efficiency Bank 1

Important: A new converter with less than 100 miles on it may set DTC P0420 or P0430 due to out-******* of the internal matting. Operating the vehicle at highway speeds for approximately 1 hour may correct the condition. Hope this helps

When accessing a highway from a frontage road access should you begin accelerating as you approach the highway or wait until you are on the highway to incresse speed

Accelerate while on the "on ramp" until you reach the speed limit + posted on the highway... this way when you reach the highway you will be going the same speed(or close) as the other vehicles ..you can blend in easily.. and NOT cause an accident by going too slow!! On the way down the "on ramp".. start looking at the traffic coming on the highway to find an opening to ease into safely. Use your mirrors and BLINKER... (its easier to slow down a little than speed up)

95 subaru warms up fine but when you hit the highway temp goes back to cold until you slow down again --radiator is full

Most likely your thermostat is stuck open. When you are at highway speed the air flowing over the radiator is over-cooling the coolant. Normally when it's cold outside the thermostat will close, reducing flow through the radiator. It's an easy fix, and not too expensive.

Pont cd reads e20 wont play tried cleaning

Cleaning with what-a cleaning CD? If so, she's most likely toast now, sorry :o(
E20 is a read error...could be bad media (ie CD format like from your PC). Otherwise, unplug the changer and plug back in.
Good Luck

94 Z28 runs rough until I cruise on the highway a few miles at a steady rpm and then the service engine light comes on and then it smooths out until I slow down to get off the highway..why?

1. Vacuum leaks
2. Leaking egr or plugged pcv.
3 Air filter clogged
4.leaking head gasket
5. Timing chain worn, or jumped a cog.
6. Camshaft worn.
7. Valves burnt or leaking.
8. ignition system
9. injectors clogged
10. Idle control system

You'll just have to keep eliminating them, from cheapest to most expensive.

2001 Grand Prix GT 3800 series engine

The best solution is to do a complete tune up with new spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve and oil change.. If this still happen I would get some fuel injector cleaner, or use marvel mystery oil in both your oil(crankcase) and gas tank. You can get mystery oil at walmart..its in a red bottle with black label.
